Wednesday, October 4, 2017–Jersey City

TWO CHARGED WITH MURDER IN CLAREMONT AVENUE HOMICIDE

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

Detectives from the Prosecutor’s Homicide Unit with assistance from the Jersey City Police Department have arrested David Jones, age 46, of Jersey City, and Horace Parker, age 31, of Jersey City in connection with a stabbing incident which occurred on Claremont Avenue in Jersey City on September 27, 2017. Richard Farmer, age 25, of Jersey City was stabbed to death and a second victim was treated for non-life threatening stab wounds.

Jones and Parker have been charged with Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3, a first-degree crime; Conspiracy to Commit Murder in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:5-2 and 2C:11-3, a first-degree crime; Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1, a second-degree crime; Unlawful Possession of a Weapon in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-5, a third-degree crime; Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:39-4, a fourth-degree crime; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-10, a third-degree crime; Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, a third-degree crime; and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with Intent to Distribute within 1000 feet of a School in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-7, a third-degree crime.

 

Yolanda Jones, age 44, of Jersey City, was also charged in this incident. The charges against her include Hindering in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:29-3, a fourth-degree crime; Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-10, a third-degree crime; Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:35-5, a third-degree crime; and Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (marijuana) with Intent to Distribute within 1000 feet of a School in violation of N.J.S. 2C:35-7, a third-degree crime.

The above charges are merely accusations, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. R.P.C.3.6(b)(6).

Wednesday, September 27, 2017–Jersey City

At approximately 9:30 a.m., Jersey City Police Officers responded to the area of Martin Luther King Drive and Orient Avenue in response to a report of an injured victim. Upon arrival, the responding Police Officers found Farmer lying on the ground in front of 73 Orient Avenue with apparent stab wounds to his torso.

The victim was transported to Jersey City Medical Center by Emergency Medical Services where he was pronounced dead shortly after 10 a.m.

A Medical Examiner has determined the cause of Farmer’s death to be a stab wound to his torso and the manner of death to be homicide.

During the investigation, Police Officers located a second male victim in the vicinity who also suffered from apparent stab wounds to his torso and upper extremities. He was also transported to JCMC by EMS where he received treatment for his injuries and was released.

The investigation of this incident is ongoing. Monday, August 7, 2017—NorthBergen

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

At approximately 3:20 a.m., North Bergen Police Officers were dispatched to 1601 Union Turnpike in North Bergen on a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, one responding Officer observed a female victim with multiple stab wounds and began to render medical aid. The victim directed two additional responding Police Officers to the rear of the residence where a second female victim and a male suspect were located.

The two Officers engaged the actor on the back porch of the residence and attempted to deescalate the situation and render aid to the second victim. An attempt to disarm the actor with pepper spray was unsuccessful and ultimately, both Police Officers discharged their service weapon. The actor, who was struck in the torso, was treated at the scene and then transported by Emergency Medical Services to Jersey City Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The deceased was a 45-year-old male whose last known residence was in Union City. His identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

The two female victims, a 31-year-old from North Bergen and a 34-year-old from Guttenberg, were transported by EMS to Jersey City Medical Center. They are reported to be in stable condition.

One additional stabbing victim from this incident, a 33-year-old man from Union City, was located by police. He was transported to Jersey City Medical Center by EMS, evaluated and released.

The two Police Officers who were involved with the shooting were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Pursuant to Attorney General guidelines, the Office of the Hudson County Prosecutor has taken over the investigation from the North Bergen Police Department and the Prosecutor’s Internal Affairs Unit is in the early stages of the investigation. Wednesday, May 31, 2017–Hoboken

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

On April 23, 2017, the Hoboken Police Department received a report of a sexual assault at a residence in Hoboken from a female victim. The victim reportedly was walking home alone shortly after 6:00 p.m. and was grabbed from behind and pushed as she entered her apartment where she was sexually assaulted.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, on May 30, 2017, at approximately 1:40 p.m., members of the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, Hoboken Police Department and Passaic Police Department arrested Marcos Blandino. age 51, of Passaic.

Blandino has been charged with two counts of Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S. 2C:14-2, a first-degree crime; and one count of Burglary in violation of N.J.S. 2C18-2, a second degree crime.

Blandino is scheduled for this afternoon in Criminal Justice Reform Court in the Hudson County Administration Building in Jersey City.  The Prosecutor’s Office has filed for pre-trial detention of the Defendant.

Tuesday, May 9, 2017— Jersey City

Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has released the following information:

Police responding to multiple 911 calls of shots being fired in the area of Woodlawn Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. food a lifeless body at 95 Woodlawn Avenue.

The deceased identified as Rasheed Raysor, age 19, of Jersey City, suffered gunshot wounds apparent gunshot wounds to the torso.  Raysor was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 3:50 p.m.  The cause of his death is pending an investigation by the Medical Examiner.
