Angela Cares Inc. Fills Over One Thousand Purple Bags For Seniors

After long weeks of preparation and anticipation Assemblywoman Angela McKnight held her 6th Annual Thanksgiving feed the Seniors event at the Golden Door Charter School, on November 23rd.

With much support of a very well supervised and organized crew of over 350 volunteers from local and statewide businesses and organizations, and community residents from Hudson County, Angela Cares Inc. was able to serve more than one thousand seniors, a group home, and a few hungry citizens by the Journal Square fountain.

This was the first time I had ever volunteered at an event of this nature, and the energy was beautiful! I had so many moments where I felt all the love and care the volunteers had knowing this dinner was for our elders, and knowing they were making a difference. Everyone was respectful towards each other and helped to their respective abilities. Ms. Stephanie was on top of the food deliveries and tasks. The volunteers that were in charge of counting the food bags and making sure each bag had every item packed neatly were amazing. The youth volunteers were able to experience a social responsibility with Assemblywoman Angela McKnight whom is setting history making examples for our young people that are watching us at all times.

Events like this keep me focused on why I document the good in our community. There were so many people present that I couldn’t get pictures of everyone, but there are pictures and articles about this event and all the positive the people of Jersey City, Hudson County, and New Jersey.
